Division I Player Selection
Guidelines
The
Soccer Club of New Milford will typically sponsor one Division I team per
age group division. The preferred size of this team is typically 11-12
players for U9 and U10 and 15-17 for U11 and above. It is recognized that
the number of players signing up and trying out for any age group will
always influence the outcome of the process. Sensitivity and fairness
within the context of Division I Player Selection Guidelines will be
observed as the number of players for each team is selected. The
Club's goal is to place players on the most appropriate team matching their
skills, thereby providing the highest level of competitive play for all
teams.
All
players trying out for a Division I team must be a registered player for the
SCNM. Registration will not be accepted at tryouts.
All
players trying out for Division I will try out for his or her respective age
appropriate group. Players will have the option of also trying out for
their grade appropriate group.
Professional
trainers employed by SCNM will conduct the tryouts.
Feedback
will be provided to players within one month of the final tryout date.
Should
a player not make a Division I team, he or she will automatically be placed
on the Division II team for which he or she is grade appropriate.
Should
there not be sufficient qualified numbers for a complete team, as determined
by the professional trainers, in a given Division/age group one or a
combination of the following placement options will be exercised in an
effort to allow all players to participate.
1. Players from multiple age groups will be combined to fulfill roster
requirements. Teams made of players from more than one age group will
always play in the age of the oldest rostered player.
2.
The SCNM will investigate the possibility of aligning our players with a
club from a nearby town within the NW District, having a similar problem,
in order to field a combined team.
Our
goal is to provide an opportunity for all players to participate within a
Division in which he or she feels comfortable. In the event that no
team can be established that meets the players' and parents' interest, a
full refund will be issued. |
