Congratulations to the Metrostars boys, the U12 Division 1 Spring 2007 CJSA Northwest District Champions!!!

There are some things in soccer that you cannot teach, and this team has shown all season long, the little things that make a true champion. All the intangibles that is so hard to coach, and this game was filled with them. This was a very hard game and perhaps the pressure to win made our boys think a little too much. Watertown placed 5 defenders making a wall that was impossible to penetrate. Our boys were very frustrated by the inability to break that wall, and the first half ended with a scoreless tie.

On the second half our boys realized that the way to break that wall was thru the flanks. We played a much better game on the second half creating a few more opportunities to score. Our first goal was made possible by a brilliant individual move by striker Andonis Vassiliadis. A nice "Maradona" move followed by a precise finishing. Our second goal was scored on a fantastics long shot by striker Andre Chappuis. Our defense, as always, worked very hard and nullified all the counter attacks. Our midfield was solid, specially on the second half.

The 2 X 0 win sealed the deal for the Spring 07 championship.
