There is nothing better in soccer than a come from behind win. The
Metrostars boys faced a very tough opponent with one of the fastest strikers
in the U12 boys NW district bracket. The game started well for the New
Milford boys who took the lead with less than 5 minutes in the game.
However, New Hartford was determined not to go down without a fight. They
relied primarily on the long balls with very efficient passing into space
behind our outside backs. New Hartford tied the game and went ahead 2 X 1
continuing to use the long balls and making it very difficult to our outside
defenders. They made 3 X 1 on a very questionable penalty call.
Never playing behind before this season, this was new territory to our boys.
However, they stayed together and with some amazing shooting and individual
playing by striker Andre Chappuis, they found their way back in the game.
The half finished on a 3 X 3 tie with Andre scoring all 3 goals for New
Milford.
New Milford played a much better second half, creating numerous
opportunities. John Tower was one of the reasons why we played so much
better on the second half. He fully explored his speed and great ball
control to create several shots and crosses. We had several chances to go
ahead and it was Andre's day. On a brilliant move, Andre took on two
defenders and had a beautiful strike passed the goalkeeper. A beautiful goal
scored by Andre.
New Hartford continued to put the pressure seeking the tie and with seconds
left, Tyler Kirkwood was able to make a stop right at the goal line.
What a game! Outstanding team effort by the entire Metrostars boys!!
Way to go on another team victory! Final score New Milford 4 New
Hartford 3.
