Megan Tishion, Lauren Ellis and Kailyn Schuster put on the goalie gloves and
jersey during the oppressive heat of the mid-day game. Each of them
aggressively took on the Southbury attackers.
Offense
An astounding effort by the Galaxy offense. Tatianna Rodriguez made numerous
drives to the Southbury goal from mid-field. She was not discouraged by the
elbows and pushing from Southbury's defenders. Tatianna scored the second
goad at only 8 minutes in the first half with a well placed ball in the
lower left corner of the goal.Ellen Trautwein had an amazing game. Driving
forward from both center mid-field at five minutes in the first half and and
stopper positions in the latter part of the second half to score with two
nicely placed shots into the lower corners.
Defense
Overall the defense held together well as Southbury tried to swarm Galaxy's
goal. Kira Page and Eliana Berney both provided the major support for the
defense. The mid-field support came from Pia Lucia
Artieda, MacKenzie Morehouse and Lauren Ellis.
Comments
The hustle and the sweat were worth it when a win is earned. Galaxy mustered
all they could give today and then they gave even more. By far this game was
the most competative Galaxy team this season. The heat and the humid were
only part of if, Galaxy had to take on long grass and make harder passes.
Each player stepped it up and made some of the best passes this season.
Using space and making crisp passes was key to a successful game.
