The Fire is really improving: it would not have mattered a whit if they had
lost. They are really starting to play the game well, moving the ball around
and connecting on more and more productive passes. As the skills improve,
this will become easier to do more consistently, and it will lead to more
and more goal scoring opportunities. Hayley Kozar was outstanding
defensively and at distributing balls to open players. Emma Fleuette made a
number of nice passes at opportune times when attacking. Hannah Winter
scored a goal. Gigi Fusco was a terror winning the ball and making nice
passes after the tackle. Kirsten Potts has really stepped up her game.
Lizzie Olmsted was her usual steady self in goal, and Christine Habjan was
also superb. One of Christine's saves was simply spectacular. Well-done--it
will be fun to watch the Fire continue to grow.
