GoalKeeper
Lauren Ellis gloved up for the first half of the game. She fought hard
against the quick assault of Watertown. The opponents sneeked in a goal
midway through the first half. Megan Tishon took over for Lauren in the
second half. Megan showed her fight to protect the goal as she bravely held
off a number of assaults before letting the remainder of Watertown's goals.
Offense
Ellen Trautwein had the desire and drive today, fighting hard to win the
free balls, making the daring tackles and striving toward the goal. Her
efforts paid off 4 minutes into the second half as she carried the ball
through the Watertown defense and knocked the ball over the goalie. Lauren
Ellis' corner kick was strategically placed in the center of the box for
Ellen Trautwein's dazzling shot that veered outside the posts. Danielle
Gosselin worked the stricker position hard throughout the game. Dani showed
that effort can pay off, carring the ball foward several times and making
strong opportune passes. Brave-heart, Pai Lucie Artienda wore her green
colors and played hard despite an minor injury that held her back. Kailyn
Schuster put forth a strong effort today, playing both center midfield and
stricker. She pushed through the Watertown defense with determination and
control. Kailyn made shot after shot right up until the game whistle, each
time the ball veered o! ff past the net. Lauren Ellis played a strong second
half in mid-field with her team mates, Kimberly Sandberg and MacKenzie
Morehouse. Overall, the entire offense and defense showed a strong drive to
win; using their foot skills, moving the ball well throughout the game and
looking up to make key plays at the top of the goalie area.
Defense
Eliana Berney was her typical strong-defensive player. Taking control to
stop the attack and converting to attack-minded when the offense moved up.
Brooke Landry showed a new side of play today, putting forth 100% from start
to finish. Brooke's blaze burned the Watertown drive several times
throughout the game and even at the 30-minute marke of the second half,
Brooke was blazing down the right sideline working to shoulder Watertown off
the ball.
Comments
After a brief sluggish start, Galaxy moved through the game with new found
strenght after their Glastonbury Tournament experience last weekend. Their
movements on the ball, dribbling and passsing, were strong. Communication
was key, when they were talking Galaxy's game seemed smooth and seemless.
Galaxy in continuing to improve with each game; taking their skills and
knowledge from their practice session to the field. A strong well-played
game by every member of the team.
