GoalKeeper
Elizabeth Snyder-Mount had a great game today. Moving off the goal-line
to deflect a number of the opponent's attacks.
Offense
Galaxy played their best game of the season today. The mid-field
controlled the game by winning free balls and spread the field. Well matched
against New Fairfield B the first half was scoreless. They entered the
second half determined to score, controlling the ball in NF-B's side of the
field until mid-way thru the half when Kailyn Schuster gathered the ball at
the top of the goal box and placed a perfect pass to Pia Lucia Artieda,
making Galaxy's first assist of the season. With one quick step, Pia scored.
Shortly after, NF-B made an attack on NM and scored on a quick shot from
inside the box. Again, Galaxy's offense pressed forward. Mia Nahom gained
control of a free ball just outside the goalbox and quickly passed off to
Kira Page while under pressure. With solid contact, Kira scored in the lower
corner of the goal, her second goal of the season and Mia's first assist of
the season. Spectacular passing under pressure by Galaxy's Offense, adding
the Assist Category to the stats!
Defense
Galaxy's defense held strong under numerous attacks. Katie Girardot held
off 6 attacks. Elianna Berney squashed 5 attacks and Brooke Landry held off
3. Galaxy's Midfielders all played a vital role, dropping back and holding
off 6 more attacks. Overall, it was an excellent team effort.
Comments
Galaxy demonstrated a strong understanding of team play today. They were
holding their positions, stretching the field, using the sidelines, winning
free-balls, passing under pressure and finding the open player in the
goalbox for the best shot on goal. Galaxy's dedication to regular practices,
skills clinics, tournaments and teamwork paid off. A tremendous effort by
every player!
