Offense
The New Milford offense had control, holding New Fairfield B to their
side of the field for more than half the game. They had 18 shots on New
Fairfield B. Mia Nahom had another great game, cutting through the New
Fairfield's defense numerous times and setting up strong attacks with a
number of well placed passes. Pia Lucia Artieda drove hard to the goal with
4 direct shots. Caitlyn DeFalco scored at 13:30 in the second half with
solid shot over the head of New Fairfield's goalie. Determined, Caitlyn
followed up with several more shots on goal. Ellen Trautwein commanded much
of the field as midfielder during the first half, setting up the offense on
several drives.
Defense
Undauntingly moving from the goal line, Elizabeth Snyder-Mounts held off
New Fairfield's attacks with several dives to the feet of the N.F.-B's
players. A phenominal game by Eliana Berney and Brooke Landry, both stepped
up defensively to squash the offensive drives of New Fairfield B. New
Milford's defense had a total of 23 defensive stops. Brooke Landry had 8 of
the stops and Eliana Berney had 9 stops. During the second half, Ellen
Trautwein actively broke up 5 offensive drives of New Fairfield B. Helping
to hold the score to 1-0.
Comments
Confident and game-ready, the New Milford girls operated as a cohesive
unit on the field today. With everyone moving to offer support, N.M. held
New Fairfield B to a 0-0 tie in the first half. Without hesitation, N.M.
struck fast on New Fairfield B. Caitlyn DeFalco set New Milford ahead 1-0
early in the second half, earning her second goal of the season. N.M. Galaxy
showed confidence as they went shoulder to shoulder with their opponent in
today's well played game.
